The Cooperstown Art Association’s annual Fine Arts on the Lawn show will be held Labor Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day on the lawn and front porch of the CAA building at 22 Main St. in Cooperstown. The annual exhibit, “Made in New York: The Art of Wood,” as well as “Keeping It Real,” a solo show of stone lithography by Amy Silberkleit, will be on display in the CAA Galleries from Aug. 23 to Sept. 27.
There are two options for showing and selling artwork and fine crafts during the event.
Artist members of the CAA may exhibit up to five framed original works on the front porch with sales and set-up taken care of by the CAA. Unframed and shrink-wrapped originals are also allowed with a flip rack. No offset reproductions will be accepted. Artists must include an inventory list and artwork must be labeled on the front with the artist’s name, town, title, medium and price and be ready to hang. Drop-off for porch exhibitors will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Pickup will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.
There is a registration fee of $10 before Aug. 31 and $15 the day of the show. The CAA reserves the right to retain a 30% commission for all sales resulting from the show.
Artists may also apply for a 10-by-10-foot tent space on the front lawn, where they will be responsible for their own display, sales and set-up. Tent spaces are open to any media of fine art and fine craft. There is a $100 booth fee as well as a short application.
The general public is invited to come and browse the event taking in art, music, demonstrations and children’s activities.
The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 607-547-9777 or visit www.cooperstownart.com for more details.
