The Cooperstown Art Association has announced a schedule of upcoming art workshops for the fall and winter. These workshops include four children’s workshops taught by Marie DiLorenzo as well as a workshop taught by Wendy Reich that will be open to adults and children.
All workshops will be held at the Big Red Annex Art School, which is located on 5 Railroad Ave. in Cooperstown. Pre-registration can be done by calling 547-9777.

Friday, Oct. 24, 2014: Halloween Wind Chimes and Autumn Dream Catchers
This children’s workshop is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be taught by DiLorenzo. Each child will complete one craft in the morning and one craft in the evening, with a break for lunch. The cost is $50 for CAA members and $55 for non-members. All materials are included, but each child must bring their own bag lunch.
Friday, Nov. 21, 2014: Turkey Day Leaf Wreaths
This second DiLorenzo-taught children’s workshop will take place from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Participants will get to make a wreath, using such materials as leaves, glitter, glass gems and feathers. Student will also make their own turkey for the center of the wreath. The cost is $25 for CAA members, $27 for non-members, with all materials included.
Friday, Dec. 5, 2014: Owl Ornaments
This children’s workshop will see participants create owl ornaments. DiLorenzo will teach kids how to craft the ornaments out of a variety of items, including buttons, recycled bottle caps, and glitter. The workshop will take place from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. The cost will be $25 for CAA members and $27 for non-members, with all materials included.
Friday, Dec. 19, 2014: Glowing Holiday Gifts
The final DiLorenzo workshop will teach children to create homemade gifts. Participants will be provided with materials to make a craft and wrap it for whoever they wish to give it to. The workshop will take place from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. and the cost will be $25 for CAA members and $27 for non-members. Materials will be included.
Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014: Polymer Clay Holiday Ornaments Workshop
Taught by Wendy Reich, this workshop is open to both adults and children and will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will be able to create holiday ornaments or charms by learning how to work with polymer clay using a variety of techniques, including rubber stamping, embedding, molding and painting. Participants are encouraged to bring additional embellishments from their homes, including beads, jewelry and ribbons. No experience is required. The cost will be $35 for CAA members and $40 for non-members. There will also be a $15 materials fee.
