Cooperstown Art Association will host opening receptions for three shows on Friday, May 24. 

ESSENTIAL ART, the 28th Annual Regional Juried Art Show, fearturing New York state artists, will be judged by Roger and Naomi DeMuth, and will be on display in Gallery A through June 26.

Also on display through June 26 will be "Pencil Studies" by Richard Marchant in Gallery B. Marchant, the grand prize winner of the 2018 Regional Juried Art Show, will present a multimedia body of work, including paintings, drawings and clay. Before beginning a painting, Marchant creates a variety of studies and sketches, which are artworks in their own right, presenters said in a media release. 

The 54th annual Leatherstocking Brush & Palette Club Fine Arts Exhibit will be in Gallery C through June 19. The exhibit will showcase work by area member artists Germaine Connolly, Marieanne Coursen, Maureen Culbert, Edith Dayton, Cindy Draper, Betty Ann Fraley, Marjorie Harris, Leota Hendrix, Tina Kiel, Abbey Koutnik, Carol Lernihan, Maureen Meyerhoff, Janet Teschke, Dave Webb, Carole Westerman, Margaret Woodrow and more.

The reception for the shows will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with awards for the regional show presented at 6 p.m.
