Cooperstown Central School graduate Nichole Wischoff recently took first in a field of 121 competitors, navigating the 5K course at the Vassar Invitational in 19:22 and winning by 39 seconds.
Wischoff, a junior at the State University of New York at New Paltz women’s cross country team, powered the Hawks to a second-place finish as a team, behind champion Vassar College.
Vassar posted a score of 24 points, while New Paltz charted a 36-point score. Wischoff’s time of 19:22 ranks her third all-time in program history in the 5K.
She trails just Lisa Cassaro (19:19) and Danielle Harmon (19:05), the school-record holder in the event. Her performance also broke the meet record, which was formerly held by All-American Joanna Spangler.
