A fire at approximately 5:45 p.m. Monday, May 20 at 920 Shady Acres, a mobile home complex on Silliman Cove Road in Milford, destroyed one trailer and displaced two people, according to Arthur Klingler, Otsego County emergency services coordinator.

The cause is under investigation and appears to be accidental, said Klingler. The fire was confined to one trailer and no one else in the complex was affected. The residents owned the trailer, which was insured, he said, but were not home at the time.

Volunteers from the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross provided medical services and financial assistance for shelter, food and clothing to the two residents, according to a media release from the American Red Cross. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits with personal care items to the residents.

Klingler said the next steps in the investigation will be to re-interview the residents and the neighbors and look at the site again.

"There does not appear to be anything suspicious about it," Klingler said.
