On Sept. 11, a recently completed veteran’s memorial at Henderson Scout Reservation in Maryland, N.Y. will be dedicated at 2 p.m.

The memorial is in memory of and will be dedicated to all Otschodela Council scouters, who died serving all Americans, according to a media release from the council.

Two special memorials will be dedicated to Eagle Scout and Army Spc. Isaac Michael Nieves from Sidney, who was killed in action on April 8, 2004, in Bani Saad, Iraq, and Eagle Scout and Army Cpl. Michael L. Mayne, from Burlington Flats, who was killed in action on Feb. 23, 2009, in Balad, Iraq.

The dedication ceremony is open to all scouters, scouts, family members and the general public.

The dedication will occur at the memorial site near the Henderson Scout Reservation dining hall. To commemorate this special event a limited edition Otschodela shoulder patch specifically designed to honor the event will be available for sale following the ceremony.

Questions regarding the dedication ceremony can be directed to the Veterans Memorial Dedication Committee Chairman, Paul Beames at 563-1111, or to Scout Executive Tom Wright at 432-6491.
