The defending Tri-Valley League Champions the Cherry Valley-Springfield boys soccer team, still has not lost a game this season.

The Patriots were given a run for their money Monday however. A game hosted by the Morris Mustangs went into overtime, resulting in a 0-0 tie.

“Every time, we’ve played better against them,” Morris coach Dave Sander said of losing by 6-0, 4-0 scores last season to the Patriots and a 2-0 setback earlier this season. “We controlled the first half slightly and they controlled the second half. Both teams had opportunities and both teams hit the crossbar.”

Mustangs keeper Kerry Smith finished with 12 saves _ eight more than counterpart Andrew Bosc.

Both teams lead their respective divisions and haven’t been beaten in league play. The Patriots are coming off a 17-1 season.

Andrew Spencer snapped a 1-all tie with a second-half goal in a home game against Laurens on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Brett Adams put the Patriots ahead, 1-0, in the first half, but Jacob Nack tied it at about 7:30 into the second half for Laurens. David Fraser made eight saves for the Leopards, who were outshot, 18-3.

“Their goalie had a really good game,” said CV-S coach Terri Adams.
