CV-S 2, Morris 0 (sept. 7)

Second-half goals by Ben Drugatz and Jordan Manikus lifted defending Section Four Class D champion Cherry Valley-Springfield to a 2-0 victory over visiting Morris on Friday.

Drugatz opened the scoring 4 minutes, 40 seconds after halftime, beating Morris goalie Kerry Smith with a 6-yard shot to the right side off a pass from Manikus.

Wyatt Cowley set up the insurance goal with a liner to Manikus, who found the left side of the net from the 18-yard line.

Smith made 10 saves for the Mustangs, who played the Patriots (3-0, 2-0) to a scoreless tie in the 2011 Tri-Valley League championship game.

Jon French stopped two shots for CV-S.

Milford 4, Laurens 3 (sept. 7)

Blake Elliott converted a penalty kick in the second half to snap a 2-all tie and Elijah Coley followed with another goal as Milford won at home in the Tri-Valley League.

Peyton Griffiths and Michael Strenck also scored for the Wildcats (1-0-1, 1-0-1), who received 10 saves from Parker Fish.

“We went up, 2-0, and they came back and tied the score,” Milford coach Frank Spurchise said. “Credit them for that. They came right back and tied it before halftime. That’s Laurens. They don’t ever give up.”

Pheonix Howard, Jerry Soucia and Carter Powers scored for the Leopards (1-1, 1-1), who got 14 saves from David Fraser.

CV-S 3, Laurens 0 (sept. 11)

Ethan Drugatz, Ben Drugatz and Jordan Manikas scored first-half goals to lead visiting Cherry Valley-Springfield to a 3-0 Tri-Valley League boys soccer victory over Laurens on Tuesday.

Ben Drugatz scored 11 minutes into play before Manikas and Ethan Drugatz scored three minutes midway through the half.

CV-S, the defending Section Four Class D champion, had a 10-1 advantage in shots.

David Fraser made six saves for the Leopards (1-2, 1-2), who travel to Morris on Friday.

Milford 3, G-MU 1 (sept. 11)

Peyton Griffiths and Elijah Coley scored for Milford, which benefited from an own goal to win in the Tri-Valley League.

After Griffiths put Milford ahead, 1-0, a Gilbertsville-Mount Upton defender inadvertently kicked the ball into the goal to make it 2-0.

Neyen Romano scored late in the first half for the Raiders.

Coley answered 13 minutes into the second half for Milford.

G-MU (1-2, 1-2) is at the Greene Tournament on Friday.

Girls Soccer

Milford 5, G-MU 1 (Sept. 11)

Hannah Saggese scored the first goal and set up the second to lead host Milford in the Tri-Valley League.

Saggese received a throughball from Kiera Higgins, touched it once and then scored on a low shot to the far post 11 minutes into play.

Then 8½ minutes before the half, Saggese dribbled down the right flank before sending a cross to Kaley Chase, who one-timed into the goal.

Chase finished with two goals, and Addy Lawson and Alyssa Quick also scored for the Wildcats (3-1, 2-1), who travel to Franklin on Friday.

Tayler Nichols scored for Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

CV-S 8, Laurens 1 (Sept. 11)

Lauren Loucks had three goals and an assist to lead host Cherry Valley-Springfield to a Tri-Valley League triumph.

Zane Ashford, Chelsea Zembower, Jordan Loucks, Olivia Preston and Kylie Graham also scored for the Patriots (3-1, 2-1), who visit Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Thursday.

Heather White scored for Laurens, who were outshot, 31-16.
