Jordan Beers didn’t waste much time Tuesday.
Beers scored 17 of her game-high 35 points in the first quarter, leading the top-seeded Franklin girls basketball team to a 67-44 victory over Tri-Valley League rival Milford in the opening round of the Section Four Class D Tournament.
Beers helped host Franklin to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter against 16th-seeded Milford (10-8), which faced a 41-18 deficit at halftime. Beers also had 10 rebounds, seven assists and five three-pointers for the Purple Devils, who also received double-doubles from Marisa Cawley (13 points, 21 rebounds) and Haley Downin (11 points, 10 rebounds).
Addy Lawson’s 14 points paced the Wildcats, who received eight points from Serena Chase.
