Waterville 79, Cooperstown 50

The Cooperstown boys fell to Waterville 79-50 in a high-scoring Center State Conference League game on Monday. Feb. 7.

The Indians scored more than 20 points in each of the first three quarters, taking a 70-41 lead into the final eight minutes.

The Hawkeyes had Charlie Lambert lead the team with 14 points, followed by Kalen Dempsey with nine points.

Waterville was led by Tyson Maxam with a game-high 30 points, followed by Cole Pearsall with 17 points.

Cooperstown will travel to play Little Falls on Thursday.

The Wildcats beat the Leopards 58-36 in a boys Tri-Valley League game Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Carter Stevens and Martin Thorsland led the Wildcats with 13 points each while Sawyer Eckberg also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Scoring in double-digits for the Leopards was Brock Mann with a game-high 21 points including four three-pointers.

Cooperstown was led by Charlie Lambert’s double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Will Lunny led Mount Markham with a game-high 18 points. Teammates Bryce Lynch, Griffin Doyle, Shaun Jones, and Gio Barletta each scored 10 points in the win.

Richfield Springs 62, Cherry Valley-Springfield 59

A physical Tri-Valley League contest saw Richfield Springs edge Cherry Valley-Springfield 62-59 Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The second quarter proved to be critical as the Indians outscored the Patriots 24-12 in that frame, and were eventually able to hold on despite being outscored 19-13 in the fourth quarter.

Dylan Hosford led the way for Richfield Springs with 26 points while Austin Bowman had a nice game as well with 18 points.

Ty France was lethal from long range for CV-S, hitting seven three-pointers en route to a team-best 24 points.

Richfield Springs’ victory improved its league record to 8-2.

The Patriots defeated the Raiders 59-45 in Wednesday’s Tri-Valley league game thanks to a tremendous performance by Joleen Lusk on Wednesday, Feb. 2

Lusk pulled off a triple-double for CV-S with 16 points, 19 rebounds and 13 blocks. Teammate Morgan Huff, meanwhile, matched her scoring with 16 points, and Daphnee West scored 11 points with seven rebounds.

For G-MU, Ashlyn Marron scored a game-high 17 points, with Hannah Bonczkowski close behind with 13 points.

The Hawkeyes cruised to a 56-30 victory over Sauquoit Valley at home last week, jumping out to a 15-4 first-quarter lead and never looking back on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Gabby Woeppel led Cooperstown with a game-high 16 points. Liana Williams, meanwhile, finished with 12 points and six steals while Sarah Feik (four points, three rebounds, five steals) and Savannah Kirkby (five points, six rebounds) also had solid games.
