Wildcats lose to Purple Devils

The Milford/Laurens boys soccer team outshot visiting Franklin/Unatego 11-7 in a 2-0 loss on Thursday, April 8.

“Cole Ruff, GK for Franklin/Unatego, played an outstanding game making several athletic saves,” Milford/Laurens head coach Gregg Eggleston said via email.

Ruff made nine saves in the shutout.

Franklin/Unatego’s Nate Dennis opened the scoring on a Matt Serrao pass at 6:15 minutes in the first half.

Milford/Laurens goalkeeper Louis Banks made two saves, but the team allowed an own goal in the second half to help Franklin/Unatego put the game out of reach.

Luke Dubben led the Patriots with two goals.

Owen Johnson scored one goal and Andrew Oram had two assists for Cherry Valley-Springfield.

MILFORD 4, FRANKLIN 2

Alexis Sutphin scored two goals to lead the Milford girls soccer team to a 4-2 road victory over Franklin on Thursday, April 8.

Sutphin scored both of her goals in the first half to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Alexis Stanford and Grace Cohn each scored a goal in the second half to give Milford a 4-0 lead.

Franklin scored two goals in the final 25 minutes of the game to try and make a comeback, but the Wildcats held on for the victory.

Kara Mertz led Milford with two assists.

Milford outshot Franklin 9-6. Wildcat goalkeepers Gabriella Saggese and Leanna West made three and two saves, respectively.

Linsey Van Dyke made one save for Franklin.

The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton girls soccer team scored three first half goals in a 3-1 victory at Laurens on Thursday, April 8.

Maya Farwell scored back-to-back goals for the Eagles to give the team a 2-0 lead and Angelina Correll scored the team’s third goal of the first half to give them a 3-0 lead.

Emily Stanley scored Laurens’ lone goal late in the second half.

Victoria Stevens made seven saves for Laurens who was outshot 10-7 by Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

The Milford/Laurens boys soccer team defeated visiting Edmeston, 1-0 on Saturday, April 10.

Brock Mann scored seven minutes into the second half on a header off a Carter Stevens half-volley in front of goal to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

“The game was well played offensively and defensively by both teams,” Milford/Laurens head coach Gregg Eggleston said via email.

Milford/Laurens outshot Edmeston 21-17.

Louis Banks made 13 saves for Milford/Laurens and Bryce Bolton made 16 saves for Edmeston.

“Both keepers had outstanding games,” Eggleston said.

He added, that both teams had multiple opportunities to score throughout the game.

The Milford/Laurens boys soccer team defeated visiting Walton, 2-0 on Monday, April 12.

After a scoreless first half, Milford/Laurens’ Riley Stevens scored on a pass from Justin LaPilusa 2:30 minutes into the second half.

Five minutes later, Stevens assisted LaPilusa to give Milford/Laurens a 2-0 lead.

“The goalkeeper from Walton made a lot of impressive saves and he should be proud of the way he played,” Milford/Laurens head coach Greg Eggleston said via email.

Milford/Laurens outshot Walton 20-5 and the Warriors’ goalkeeper Peyton Tweedie made 12 saves.

Louis Banks made two saves for Milford/Laurens in the team’s third shutout of the season.

Connor Scheffler converted a second-half penalty kick for Richfield Springs’ lone goal.

Tia Vagliardo scored on a corner kick that hooked into the goal to give Milford a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Delaney Maison scored the Wildcats second goal on a Mariah Saggese free kick and Vagliardo scored a second goal to help Milford put the game out of reach.

Gabriella Saggese and Leanna West made three and two saves respectively for Milford, who outshot Morris 15-8.

Maddie Coleman made five saves for Morris.

Sarah Lewis added two goals for the Patriots and teammate Jaelyn Jaquay scored one goal.

Cherry Valley-Springfield outshot Richfield Springs 24-6.

Marijke Kroon made two saves for Cherry Valley-Springfield and Maggie Worobey made 15 saves for Richfield Springs.
